Sustainable Services Checklist Tool: Uganda Sample

A sample from Uganda of Water For People’s Sustainable Services Checklist (SSC) tool. The SSC is developed in partnership with district governments to measure the sustainability of the WASH system in a district. The SSC is customized to the context of each individual district. There are 8 indicators of sustainability within 3 categories:

• Service Authority: structure, finance, management, and monitoring
• Service Provider: structure, finance, and O&M
• Water Resources Management

While the tool was originally created for water services, Water For People has also added questions to assess the sustainability of sanitation services as well as Equity & Inclusion considerations.

This Excel template contains a "documentation" tab explaining each metric, scoring methodology, data collection methodology, and guidance. The "summary" tab rolls up the results to the 8 indicators, and there is a sample tab for one district. The formulas are built in and ready for partners to customize and use.
