HENRY ARTURO GUDIEL BANEGAS Country Director

Henry is an expert facilitator and trainer with over 21 years of experience designing and implementing training programs on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) topics for public and private actors within the WASH sector. Henry worked at the National Autonomous Service of Aqueducts and Sewers (SANAA in Spanish) for 17 years, training water and sanitation technicians and commissions, administrative boards, among many other district level government institutions. In addition to developing methodologies for district WASH educational programs, Henry facilitated the development of district drinking water and sanitation plans and policies. His deep understanding of water and sanitation regulations, policies, and their process within Honduras, coupled with his background promoting education in rural dispersed areas, allows Henry to effectively communicate, train, and promote WASH programming and activities among stakeholders at all levels.

Since 2016, Henry has leveraged his institutional knowledge of the regulations and processes within SANAA to support Water For People’s programs as Education Coordinator. Henry has collaborated with the district departments of health and education to implement educational programs promoting WASH concepts, particularly in rural areas. He has also designed and promoted menstrual hygiene education campaigns in several districts where Water For People operates. Henry provides expert facilitation and coordination, enhancing collaboration across necessary actors to design sustainable interventions allowing Water For People to scale its approach. Henry continues to build capacity within public institutions, providing trainings and technical assistance to ensure the sustainability of water and sanitation systems within communities.

He has a Master's in Project Design, Management and Direction from Universidad Europea del Atlantico in Spain and a Bachelor's degree in Education from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma in Honduras.
